Print of a stamp design honoring the deceased Apollo 1 astronauts by artist Bob Drinon, 11.25 x 8.5, signed on the borders in various inks by an impressive array of seven astronauts: Neil Armstrong, Jack Swigert, Gene Cernan, John Glenn, Alan Shepard, Harrison Schmitt, and Ron Evans. The Shepard signature in the upper border is secretarial and the remaining eight signatures are autopen. Also signed in the lower right of the image in pencil by the artist. Double-matted and framed to an overall size of 16.75 x 14. In very good condition, with scattered creases, many signatures faded a few shades light, and an irregular spot affecting Shepard’s authentic signature. A wonderful piece incorporating a quote from Tennyson’s Ulysses, “Come, my friends, ‘Tis not too late to seek a newer world.” The Leon Ford Collection. Pre-certified Zarelli Space Authentication.
