China’s third premier visits the White House in 1984

High-ranking Chinese politician (1919–2005) who served as the third premier of the People’s Republic of China from 1980 to 1987, and then as general secretary of the Communist Party from 1987 to 1989. Bold felt tip signature in Chinese on an off-white 3.75 x 5.5 card, to which a photo of Zhao walking arm-in-arm with President Reagan has been affixed. In fine condition. Accompanied by a 1987 letter of transmittal from his office. Zhao, a revolutionary in his country, introduced the stock market and vehemently promoted trading. The Reagan administration hosted Premier Zhao at the White House on January 10, 1984, in an effort to bolster China’s relationship with the West. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
