Dana Jr.,” three pages on two adjoining sheets, October 14, 1852, in part: “I am much complimented by your proposal to place my name among the contributors to your journal”; and an ALS signed “R. H. Dana Jr.,” one page, January 18, 1877, in part: “If you determine to settle yourself in California…I will endeavor to give you some letters of introduction there.” A significant tear to the top edge and a band of toning to the earlier letter, otherwise overall fine condition.
