Uncommon 1830 military appointment

Partly-printed vellum DS as president, one page, 13.75 x 16.75, June 1, 1830. President Jackson appoints Josiah H. Vose as a “Lieutenant Colonel in the Third Regiment of Infantry in the service of the United States.” Boldly signed at the conclusion by President Jackson and countersigned by Secretary of War John H. Eaton. The embossed white paper seal affixed to the top remains crisp and fully intact. Double-matted to an overall size of 22 x 25.75. In fine condition, with heavy intersecting storage folds (one vertical fold passing through a single letter of the signature). Oversized. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
