Saturn High Voltage Current Exploding Bridge Wire (EBW) firing unit. Unit itself measures 6.5 x 3.5 x 3 with a coiled 33″ wire extending from one end. A General Laboratory Associates, Inc. label is affixed to the top of the unit, which also bears several inspectors stamps dating from 1966–1971. A partial Boeing inspectors label is affixed to the coupling on the edge of the wire. This device would have been used by NASA to provide an electrical charge to detonate a self destruct charge upon command from the range safety officer in the event of a launch anomaly. The Boeing label implies this was used with the first stage of the Saturn V. In fine condition, with some scattered wear and corrosion to wire. RR Auction COA.
