Famed Beatles discoverer and manager (1934–1967). TLS signed “Brian,” one onionskin page, 8 x 10, NEMS Enterprises Ltd. letterhead, October 7, 1966. Letter to Sidney Traxler regarding a lawsuit for the case of Thorne vs. Beatles. In full: “I have your account for payment in respect of the above lawsuit settled in London a few months ago. I am aware that the original account was for $20,000 subsequently reduced to $17,000, and I was informed of the negotiations between Geoffrey Ellis and Marvin Mitchelson which resulted in this reduction. However, on further consideration, I really cannot see my way to paying this very large sum of money for the services involved in this case. Perhaps you too would be good enough to reconsider the total once more and let me know what you think a reasonable total would be.” In fine condition, with two punch holes to top edge. The Thorne referenced at the beginning of the letter may very well be Ken Thorne, who created the score for the band’s 1965 film Help!, earning himself and the band a Grammy nomination for Best Original Score.
