Description

Frank Sinatra

Official city of Boston bright green “Sinatra St.” double-sided street sign, 36 x 8, made by the Department of Public Works, and hung on one of the corners of Mass Ave. and Huntington Ave. or Mass Ave. and Symphony Road, all streets that abut Boston’s Symphony Hall. These signs were hung in honor of Frank Sinatra Day in Boston, held in April of 1987, by order of Mayor Ray Flynn. Flynn declared Massachusetts Avenue as Sinatra Street for the evening, before his concert at Symphony Hall as a benefit for Flynn’s Youth Partnership. After his show, the signs were removed and presented as thank-you gifts for those who worked on the concert, with this sign presented to the Entertainment Network, who booked Sinatra for the show, and also ran the Channel nightclub in Boston. This sign hung at the nightclub for several years until it closed. In fine condition, with six mounting holes to edges and some scattered light surface marks. RR Auction COA.
