TLS signed “A. Einstein,” one page, 7 x 7, blind-stamped personal letterhead, November 22, 1945. Short letter to Dr. Frank Kingdon. In full: “I am gladly willing to receive Mr. Kingsley. But I must say that I cannot imagine in what respect I would be able to help him in his endeavour.” Double-matted and framed with a portrait of Einstein to an overall size of 19 x 13. In fine condition, with intersecting folds. Kingdon, the letter’s recipient, was the president of the University of Newark and an outspoken anti-Nazi detractor since 1929, and led antiwar, anti-fascist rallies at the college. Two years later, Kingdon’s Emergency Rescue Committee merged with Einstein’s International Relief Association to create the International Rescue Committee.
