He is famous for his drawings of contemporary English country life and for his charming and humorous illustrations, including those for Washington Irving’s Old Christmas and Bracebridge Hall and Blackburn's Breton Folk. Original unsigned ink sketch of three elderly gentleman, all clad in sun hats, sitting on a step, on an off-white 2.75 x 3 sheet affixed to a 6.25 x 5.75 mount.
