Description

Congressman Kennedy hits the 1952 campaign trail with his eye on the Senate

TLS signed “John Kennedy,” one page, 6 x 9, Congress of the United States, House of Representatives letterhead, May 17, 1952. Letter to Edward Dolan, city councillor for Fall River, Massachusetts. In full: “It certainly was nice meeeting [sic] you at the O’Brien’s home while I was in Fall River. I look forward to seeing you again soon.” Nicely matted and framed to an overall size of 13.75 x 15.5. In fine condition. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope. During this period, Kennedy was a third-term congressman in the House of Representatives and campaigning for a Senate seat in the 1952 election. Working-class mill towns like Fall River and New Bedford offered JFK a broad base of support and Kennedy emerged successful in the election by a narrow margin against his opponent, Henry Cabot Lodge.
