Description

Kay Boyle

Author (1902–1992) known for her political writing who, along with her husband, was a victim of 1950s-era McCarthyism. TLS, one page both sides, 5.75 x 7.75, personal letterhead, July 4, 1978. Letter to notable historian Saul Padover. In part: “A colleague at San Francisco State University, whom I have known for a decade, has written a book in which Random House has expressed interest. His name is Theodore Keller, and his book (the first of a two-volume work) is on Marxism, and is in part ‘an analysis of the Russian and Chinese revolutions, and the incipient revolutions in Latin America.’ Random House has two affirmative opinions on the manuscript and wants a third by ‘an expert in the field.’ My thoughts went immediately to you. Would you have the time to read Keller’s book?” In fine condition. RR Auction COA.
