Typescript, signed “Charles W. Lindberg,” one page, 7 x 10.5, on colorful World War II-themed letterhead, with the top border showing a tank dragging Hitler, Mussolini, and Hirohito, and the bottom showing the three Axis leaders as pigs. Manuscript recounts the first Iwo Jima flag-raising and reads, in part: “Four days after landing on the beach of Iwo Jima, we began the climb up Mount Suribachi. I cannot understand why the Japanese didn’t annihilate us as we climbed the narrow trail…This original flag we raised at 10:30 am on February 23, 1945.” In fine condition.
