AQS on an off-white 5 x 7.75 page removed from a book, signed “John G. Whittier,” and dated September 20, 1888. Whittier pens an ideal verse from his poem ‘My Triumph.’ In full: “O living friends who love me! / O dear ones gone above me! / Careless of other fame / I leave with you my name.” Some chipping and small tears to edges, otherwise fine condition. Accompanied by an unsigned 4.25 x 6.5 cabinet photo of Whittier, and his obituary clipped and affixed to another book page. RR Auction COA.
