Hawthorne document as Surveyor, shortly before his highly publicized dismissal

Partly-printed DS, signed “Nath. Hawthorne,” one page, 8.5 x 7, May 6, 1848. Document stating duties have been secured on eighteen cords of wood brought into the ports of Salem and Beverly by William Lent on the schooner Leopard. In very good condition, with intersecting folds, brushing to first name of signature, some light mirroring of ink to left side, and toning to edges from previous display. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
