Pioneering American entrepreneur and philanthropist (1795–1869) who lent his support to such venerable institutions as the Peabody Institute in Baltimore and the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts. Uncommon ALS, one page, 4.5 x 7, December 9. Letter to Mr. Winthrop. In full: “Although you requested me not to answer your kind note of the 4th I now find that I can make it convenient to be in Boston on Wednesday next and will do myself the honor of waiting upon you on that evening at 9.” In fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA.
