The patriotic poet seeks to honor the great abolitionist, Henry Ward Beecher

ALS, two pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.25 x 8, March 22, 1887. Letter to Edward W. Bok, editor of The Brooklyn Magazine. In part: “I write now to ask when contributions to the Beecher Memorial should be sent, and also what would be the length desired. I shall certainly be very glad to do what I can in rendering honor to so distinguished a memory.” In fine condition. Henry Ward Beecher had passed away on March 8, 1887, and Bok was compiling a series of memorial statements for the family. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
