Description

“Though Keynes was a great thinker, his interest in theory was not for its own sake but ‘as a base’ for designing policy”

Rare autograph manuscript, one page, lightly lined, 8.5 x 11, signed and inscribed at the top, “For Mark Gruber, Milton Friedman.” A copiously hand-corrected page from a draft of one of his works. In part: “Inflation, and unemployment, continued to be the major economic problem after the war, as it was during the war. Keynes’…flexibility would have led him to turn his attention increasingly to the themes of Monetary Reform…Though Keynes was a great thinker, his interest in theory was not for its own sake but ‘as a base’ for designing policy.” In fine condition. A remarkable working draft with terrific content, with the Nobel Laureate commenting on his greatest rival in the field of economics. RR Auction COA.
