Description

Inscribed to Jack Ruby’s prosecuter

Vintage matte-finish 5.5 x 7 bust portrait of Johnson affixed to a 7 x 10 mount, signed and inscribed on the mount in fountain pen, “To Jim Bowie—With best wishes, Lyndon B. Johnson.” Matted and framed to an overall size of 14 x 17. In fine condition. ADA Jim Bowie, the ‘Book Lawyer,’ led the highly effective team of chief prosecutors for state of Texas in the case against Jack Ruby; he went on to be appointed as a judge, the youngest to ever hold a seat in Texas. This photo was given to Judge Bowie after being sworn into criminal district court #5, in Dallas, Texas, in 1965 when Governor Connally appointed him to the bench. A supremely interesting association. Pre-certified John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
