Accompanied by a letter from the original recipient, dated November 4, 1943, in part: “I heard a terrific commotion down in the mess hall so I dash down to see what’s cookin’ and I find ‘This is the Army’ plus Irving Berlin and I am also the first Yank in this theatre of operations to get his autograph which I enclose for your collection.” RR Auction COA.
