Featuring four “Campbell’s Soup” drawings

Signed book: The Philosophy of Andy Warhol. Later printing. NY: Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, 1975. Hardcover with dust jacket, 5.75 x 8.5, 241 pages. Signed and inscribed on the half-title page in black felt tip, “To John Paul Williams, Andy Warhol, Zurich 1976,” adding a large and fantastic sketch of his famous soup can in the center, labeled “Campbell’s Tomato Soup.” On the title page, he sketches a smaller “Campbell’s Soup” can, signed with his initials. He adds another sketch, “Campbell’s Pea Soup,” on the introductory page of chapter one, also initialed below. The fourth sketch, labeled “Campbell’s Soup,” is found on the final page of the book, also initialed below. Autographic condition: fine. Book condition: VG-/VG-. Orange cloth-covered spine and yellow paper-covered boards; slightly shaken; nine dots of glue with paper remnants to rear cover; margin of pages 207-216 trimmed; verso of ffep discolored. Dust jacket has light creasing to edges, mostly at corners and spine-ends; and damage to backside corresponding with glue spots on rear cover of book. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
