Original vintage matte-finish 13 x 9.5 photo of what appears to be a Wright ‘Model B’ biplane on the ground in Asbury Park, New Jersey, on August 10, 1910, the first appearance of a Wright airplane with wheels under the skids. Photo shows the plane in the foreground with several men milling about and a larger crowd in the background behind a fence. Photo is affixed to a mount and matted to an overall size of 17 x 14, and notated on the mat in an unknown hand, “Wright Biplane, Asbury Park, N. J.” In fine condition. The Wright Company had entered into a contract with the Aero and Motor Club of Asbury Park to provide Wright aircraft at the August aviation meet. The airplane was damaged on August 10 when its pilot, Walter Brookins, swerved to avoid photographers, stalled, and hit several spectators. RR Auction COA.
