Description

“I also hope that in ‘To Hell And Back’ we do not have on our hands (in the classic words of Winston Churchill) ‘a stranded whale’”

TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.25, personal letterhead, September 26, 1955. Letter to arts and entertainment editor Edwin Howard. In part: “I enjoyed tremendously your column in answer to Mr. Pegler’s personal Anzio campaign. Well done. This was all very interesting to me since I just returned from a P. A. Tour with ‘To Hell And Back,’ and as you might guess, the picture deals in great part with the Anzio Beachhead. I hope you will find that we have not departed too far from the facts in the telling of our story. I also hope that in ‘To Hell And Back’ we do not have on our hands (in the classic words of Winston Churchill) ‘a stranded whale.’” In very good condition, with intersecting folds and scattered toning. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
