In part: “Even in the hurry and rush of these last days of Congress I cannot refrain from taking time to thank you for your letters…Our campaign is at present only in a state of inquiry and observation I suppose; and definitely outlines have not yet been agreed upon. I thank you very sincerely for your personal interest as well as for your suggestions.” Double-matted and framed with an oval cabinet photograph to an overall size of 19 x 14.
