Description

Heart

DS, signed “Ann Wilson,” “Nancy Wilson,” and “Howard Leese,” four pages, 8.5 x 11, April 2, 1995. Settlement agreement between the members of Heart and Capitol Records, in which “Capitol disputes such claims” of back royalties owed to the band after a 1993 report issued by the band’s auditors confirmed discrepancies in the label’s financial dealings, “covering account periods from October 1, 1978 through September 30, 1991.” Capitol, “Without admitting the validity of or liability for any such claims…desire to compromise and settle the claims released hereunder…Capitol agrees to pay Artist…the sum of $85,000, and Artist agrees to accept said payment in full and complete settlement of all claims which Artist may now or hereafter have against Capitol with respect to all royalties including without limitation record royalties and mechanical royalties…required to be paid to them for any period from October 1, 1987 up to an including September 30, 1991.” Two horizontal folds, one lightly affecting the Wilsons’ signatures, and expected document wear, otherwise fine condition. A triumphant settlement for the Wilson sisters, awarded the same year Nancy took time away from the band to concentrate on her family. Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RR Auction COA.
