John Jacob Astor, III

American financier who was the wealthiest member of the Astor family in his generation (1822–1890). ALS signed “J. J. Astor,” one page, 5 x 7.75, June 30, 1869. Letter to Alfred Mackay. In part: “I intended to invest $10,000 dollars in the bonds of your company, which at 50% would purchase $20,000 of the bonds.” In very good condition, with intersecting folds (a couple passing through the signature and partial separation to one horizontal fold) and a few noticeable creases. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
