Noted American surgeon (1813–1886) who served as a military surgeon for two years during the Civil War and was appointed medical inspector with the rank of lieutenant colonel in 1863. Original 2.25 x 4 carte-de-visite portrait of Hamilton seated and resting his arm on a table, signed in the lower border in black ink, “Frank H.
