The eldest son of George III, he alienated his subjects with his prodigious spending and contemptuous treatment of his wife, Queen Caroline, whom he refused to admit to his coronation. Partial partly-printed vellum DS, signed “George R,” one page, 1820–21. The king appoints Henry Poole to the position of Second Lieutenant in the Royal Regiment of Artillery, signed at the top in black ink.
