Scarce ALS as president, two pages on two adjoining sheets, 5 x 8, Executive Mansion letterhead, December 19, 1883. Letter to Judge Edwards Pierrepont. In full: “My time has been so occupied since the opening of the session that my private letters have received no attention. I thank you cordially for your kind note of the 6th inst. I expect to go to New York tonight or tomorrow & hope to have have [sic] the pleasure of seeing you while I am there.” The letter has been removably archivally sleeved in acid free Mylar.
