Arthur C. Ducat

Union officer (1830–1896) in the Civil War who was wounded at the Battle of Fort Donelson. Following the war, he was a leading executive in the insurance industry in Illinois and a world-renowned specialist in fire prevention and protection. Original 2.25 x 3.75 carte-de-visite photo by Hesler of Chicago, signed in the lower border in black ink, “Arthur C. Ducat Insp. Gen 1863,” and signed and inscribed on the reverse, “To Lt. Col Taylor from Arthur C. Ducat, Lt Col. Insp Gen, Mufreesboro, Tennessee, May 8th, 1863.” In fine condition, with a lightly trimmed top edge and some silvering to darker areas of image.
