“I have always thought of clowns, acrobats and actors as tragically human beings”

Typed manuscript entitled ‘Circus People,’ one page, 7.25 x 10.5, dated 1967. Manuscript reads, in part: “I have always thought of clowns, acrobats and actors as tragically human beings who, for me, are like characters in certain religious paintings. Even today, when I paint a crucifixion or some other religious scene, I experience almost the same emotions I used to feel painting circus people.” Signed at the conclusion in black artist’s pencil by Chagall. In fine condition, with a few scattered light creases. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
