Stuart Sutcliffe

Manuscript poem, unsigned, one lightly-lined page from one of his poetry notebooks, 4.5 x 7.25, no date. The untitled poem reads, in part: “It comes it goes, fades/But no excuse if offered/For this myth which captures/Mankind under some garrish/Spell, this knows what fruitless ventures.” Sutcliffe has also added a couple of small doodles to the top border. In fine condition, with a uniform shade of mild toning. Accompanied by a letter of provenance stating that the poetry book was originally property of the Sutcliffe estate until sold at a Bonham’s auction in July 2003. Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RR Auction COA.
