William ‘Dummy’ Hoy

Deaf baseball player who was the first one to hit a grand slam in the American League. He was also instrumental in the invention of the ‘strike’ sign. Vintage ink signature, “Wm. E. Hoy,” on an off-white 5 x 3 lightly-lined card with collector’s notations along the top edge. A mild overall shade of toning and a light paperclip mark to top edge, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
