Johnson writes to an admirer, in part; “I flew my 91st and last mission on May 8, 1944—As I was the first to break Rickenbacker’s WWI record, I was pulled out of combat and never allowed to fly combat again in Korea or any other.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, addressed in Johnson’s hand and signed on the back, “R.
