Prolific and prodigiously talented French Romantic composer (1835–1921) of such timeless works as the ‘Organ’ Symphony,’ the opera ‘Samson et Dalila,’ and the perennial concert favorite ‘Carnival of the Animals.’ ALS in French, signed “C. Saint-Saens,” one page both sides, 4.75 x 6.5, personal letterhead, November 10, 1909. Letter to a gentleman. In full (translated): “I am going to attend at once to sending you some photographs. I would be very grateful to you if you will send me some popular California scenes for the composition I must write to be used for the exposition.” In fine condition, with a couple trivial areas of soiling.
