American inventor and entrepreneur (1854–1932), founder of the Eastman Kodak company, whose invention of roll film revolutionized photography and helped make the once-specialized art and craft a popular pastime. LS signed “Geo. Eastman,” one page, 8.5 x 11, The Eastman Dry Plate and Film Co. letterhead, September 30, 1889. Letter regarding an order for enlargements. In part: “We will have the enlargements made as soon as possible…We have noted your remarks about the necessity of having good prints. We never expect to make quite so good a print from a copy as we can from a good original negative—but our operators are careful to make the very best from the material furnished us—and we will give your order especial care.” In very good condition, with intersecting folds with some slight separations, one vertical fold passing through a single letter of the signature, mild scattered creases, toning, and soiling, various ink notations to the bottom, and a bit of light brushing to signature.
