Brigadier General of the Confederate Provisional Army (1818–1893) who commanded the forces at Charleston, where he ordered the bombardment of Fort Sumter. Superb original 4 x 6.5 cabinet photo of Beauregard in his later years, by Washburn of New Orleans, signed on the image in black ink, “G. T. Beauregard.” Reverse is inscribed in an unknown hand, “To my friend Col. Armstrong of St. Louis, St. Louis, October 1892.” In fine condition, with trivial surface loss to edges. RR Auction COA.
