Extremely rare portrait of the early African-American leader

African-American leader (1856–1915) who authored Up from Slavery and founded the Tuskegee Institute to provide young black people with educational opportunities. Original 5.25 x 7.5 chemi-litho-gravure embossed card by the Marshall-Jackson Company of Chicago, signed in the lower border in black ink. In fine condition, with a few mild surface marks, light foxing and soiling to the borders, and lightly trimmed edges. The first Washington signed photo we have offered. RR Auction COA.
