French composer (1842–1912) best known for such operas as ‘Manon,’ ‘Werther,’ and ‘Thais.’ Original 4.5 x 6.5 cabinet photo by Erwin Hanfstaengl of Frankfurt, inscribed in black ink in French to Alfredo Edet, and signed “Massenet, Milan, Paris, 1878.” Several light surface scratches to image, one passing through facial area and portion of signature, stray ink marks to bottom border, and mounting remnants to reverse, otherwise fine condition.
