American statesman (1814–1886) who served as Governor of New York and who was the unsuccessful Democratic presidential candidate in the infamous disputed election of 1876. Vintage 2 x 3.5 photo affixed to its 3.25 x 5 mount, signed on the mount in black ink, “S. J. Tilden.” In fine condition, with a couple light surface marks to image and trimmed edges to mount.
