Longfellow pens the first stanza of his famous poem ‘The Builders.’ In full: “All are architects of Fate/ Working in these walls of Time;/ Some with massive deeds and great/ Some with ornaments of rhyme, Henry W. Longfellow, February, 1852.” Nicely double matted and framed with a portrait to an overall size of 17 x 10.25. In very good condition, with two vertical folds, one fold passing through a single letter of the signature, toning to the corners (likely due to adhesive from previous display), and some light soiling.
