Description

Hank Williams and his Drifting Cowboys sign in ‘49

Legendary and highly influential country and western singer and songwriter (1923–1953). Vintage pencil signature, “Best Wishes, Hank Williams, WSM,” on an off-white 8.5 x 11 sheet dated August 15, 1949, also signed in pencil by Ernest Tubb and Bill Byrd, and in ink by Vern Mack, Jack Drake, Hillous Butrum, Chubby Wise, Mac Wiseman, and Bob McNett. Affixed to a heavier sheet of approximately the same size. Butrum, Drake, and Byrd were all members of Williams’s band, the Drifting Cowboys. In very good condition, with intersecting folds dividing each signature, scattered toning and wrinkling, and some irregular staining from the mounting adhesive, lightly affecting the Williams signature. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
