Italian composer (1857–1919) best known for his operas, particularly the beloved repertoire staple ‘Pagliacci’ (1892). ALS in French, signed “R. Leoncavallo,” four pages on two adjoining sheets, 4.25 x 7, no date. Letter regarding a manuscript of Detroyort’s, which Madame Levysohn gave to him at her home. He hasn’t found it in looking through his papers, and thinks he may have left it on a table in the room next to the dining room. Leoncavallo is terribly busy and asks that the letter that accompanies his be given to Madame Levysohn. A couple spots of adhesive remnants to the upper corners, a small stain to the bottom of the second page, and a couple pencil notations to the front, otherwise fine condition.
