Revolutionary War dated manuscript DS, signed “O. Ellsworth,” one page, 8 x 6.75, August 29, 1777. Ellsworth directs the treasurer to “Pay Capt. Zebulon Bidwell seventy seven pounds lawful money for his company under marching orders to join the Northern Army & charge the State.” Docketing and endorsement on reverse. In fine condition, with light scattered soiling, uniform toning, two horizontal folds, and light ink mirroring. Bidwell died in the Battle of Stillwater just a few weeks later, after having his leg shot off by a cannon ball. RRAuction COA.
