Description

Union dues are covered before the release of Surfin’ Safari

DS, one onionskin page, 8 x 13, October 9, 1962. Agreement between the Beach Boys and Capitol Records, in which Capitol agrees to pay the local union dues and initiation fees for Dennis and Brian Wilson and Mike Love. Signed at the bottom in blue ink, with their full names, “Brian D. Wilson,” “Dennis C. Wilson,” “Carl D. Wilson,” “Michael E. Love,” and “David Marks,” (original member who was later replaced by Al Jardine). In very good condition, with two punch holes to top, scattered creases and wrinkling, and a minor tape repair to fold separation. The band had signed with Capital records in July of 1962, and would release their first album, Surfin’ Safari in November. An early example with the band’s seldom-seen ‘formal’ signatures. Pre-certified Roger Epperson/REAL and RR Auction COA.
