LS in Spanish, signed “Yo el Rey (I the King),” one page both sides, 8.5 x 11.5, April 1,1590. Boldly penned letter to the Condessa de Salinas, ordering the reorganisation of the captains and soldiers under her jurisdiction for the better protection of the realm. Signed at the conclusion by the king and countersigned by the secretary of state, Andres de Prado. Second integral page bears an address panel in another hand. In very good condition, with a couple small separations along intersecting mailing folds, uniform toning, some scattered light foxing and creasing, and some ink erosion to signature.
