Exceptional oversized vintage matte-finish 11 x 13.75 photo, signed and inscribed in fountain pen to radio reporter Fred Johnson, “To Fred Johnson, a pal for an afternoon and a friend fore ever. Bela Lugosi” and adding “San Francisco in August 1928” farther down the image. In fine condition, with some scattered light edge marks, creases and tears, some light silvering to darker areas, and some light discoloration to left edge of background. Lugosi was in the midst of performing Dracula in San Francisco to rave reviews, where the Columbia Theatre maintained a nurse on their staff to deal with approximately a dozen fainting spells by audience members per night.
