Description

Lawrence Sullivan Ross

Governor of Texas from 1887–1891 and a Confederate States Army general during the American Civil War. Partly-printed DS, signed “L. S. Ross,” one page, 16.5 x 14, April 17, 1890. Land grant issued to Uvalde County for 160 acres “on the waters of Fish Creek a tributary of Dry Frio River.” Signed at the conclusion by Ross as governor of Texas, and countersigned by the commissioner of the land grant office. A filing certificate of record is attached to the reverse. Intersecting folds, with a couple small separations along folds, a uniform shade of toning, and several pencil notations to borders, otherwise fine condition.
