Lengthy AQS on an 8 x 5 off-white sheet, dated May 4, 1889. Stowe quotes from Chapter XXII of Uncle Tom’s Cabin. In full: “Tom looked up to his master, & answered, ‘Mas’r, if you was sick, or in trouble, or dying, & I could save you, I’d give you my heart’s blood; & if taking every drop of blood in this poor old body would save your precious soul, I’d give ‘em freely, as the Lord gave his for me.’” Signed at the bottom, “Harriet Beecher Stowe.” Sheet affixed to a 10 x 8.5 off-white heavy stock album page. In fine condition. Handwritten quotes of this length from one of America’s greatest pieces of literature are highly prized. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
