Description

“I particularly want to hear from you as to the effect (if any) of my Hearst articles”

ALS signed “G. B. S.,” one page, 3.5 x 4.25, personal letterhead, February 17, 1919. Shaw tries in vain to keep an appointment. In full, “Unluckily an outbreak of influenza in my London establishment compels me to break off all town engagements this week, which means that I shall not be up until the 27th. What will your movements be at that date? It is rather exasperating; for I particularly want to hear from you as to the effect (if any) of my Hearst articles. I am reprinting them in a booklet here. If the roads were in a less abominable state I should be tempted to try to reach Berkhamsted by motor bicycle.” Matted to an overall size of 5 x 7. Uniform toning and some soiling, otherwise fine condition. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RR Auction COA.
