After losing his Senate seat in 1970, Bush ponders: “I don’t know what the future holds, but I’ll bet it will be challenging”

TLS signed “George,” one page, 8 x 10.5, Congress of the United States letterhead, November 16, 1970. Letter to the Associate Editor of National Geographic, written shortly after Bush lost his bid for a Senate seat. In part, “We hurt desperately for a few days, but now the world seems somewhat brighter. I wanted badly to win this race, but it wasn’t in the cards. I don’t know what the future holds, but I’ll bet it will be challenging.” In fine condition, with two horizontal mailing folds and a rusty paperclip mark across top edge. RRAuction COA.
